Station 20 West, Saskatoon, SK

Station 20 West is a Community Enterprise Centre located on the west-side of Saskatoon.  This building, which opened in the fall of 2012 and was part of a larger neighbourhood revitalization provides spaces that ensure that core neighborhoods have access to services and amenities including a grocery store and various office spaces.

REM’s role included providing complete structural design consisting of a pile supported structural slab. Because the owner of the building is a nonprofit, the budget played a major role in the consideration of building element selection and played a role in our design strategy.  As an example, the building was constructed using wood framing instead of the typical steel framing.
